Here I will list each of my designs and slogan pieces and talk a little about the thought process that lead to me deciding to draw them and what they mean to me. For the nerds (of which I am certainly one) there will also be some basic stats about the creation that Procreate makes available to me.<\/p>
My design process is either by tracing over photographs found on the internet and arranged in the layout that fits my idea. I\u2019m too rusty to be able to draw accurately so I am using. This as part of my re-learning process. Or where the design is supposed to be a bit more \u201cgunge\u201d I very roughly sketch and add colour in a rough and ready way.<\/p>
*I say that, but they are in a vaguely chronological order, but not entirely. I sometimes start a design and come to a creative dead end. This is childish humour, delivered in a style that appeals to a more grown up (chronologically) audience. It is one of my favourite designers to wear and was one of the ones that got the public responses that prompted me to open this shop. Every time I have worn it I have had at least one person give a wry smile as the two parus major sit over my breasts.<\/p>

This was actually my first design intended for a tee shirt. I am both autistic and dyslexic, I don\u2019t know if that is relevant, but the cute animal sharing a name with the deadly sin was very obvious to me. I had made the joke verbally a couple of times (sloths are one of the favourite animals of one of my metamours). But I felt it was crying out for a bit of visual humour too.<\/p>

Like the great tits design, these are intended to sit over the breast on garments (obviously not if I produce mugs etc). I really enjoyed drawing this one, especially as the faces came together. Like my other early detailed pieces, this one was traced over a collage of photographs to give me accurate form and to pull colour from. I also have moved this design around a little to make a single booby design for baby grows etc.<\/p>

This one is one of the designs I did for my own use. There are very few items that celebrate poly love, far far fewer than for monogamous love. Polyamory isn\u2019t a fetish or a kink, nor is it an \u201cexcuse\u201d to be unfaithful (polyamorous people do not cheat on their partners, all relationships are fully consensual.) Anyway, I\u2019ll climb off my soap box for a moment!. <\/p>
While I knew what I wanted for the design, it took me a long while to get something I am happy with. As a result, I never got to get myself one until after I created this shop. While it is designed to \u2018work\u2019 on any background, my feeling is that it pops much more on a dark, or even black background.<\/p>

This was my personal moto throughout most of my career as a business intelligence database architect \/ developer, but it feels very appropriate for the so called debate on trans identities, particularly for the non binary folks. I wanted to be able to put up a design in support of the trans community because of the ill conceived guidelines that have come out of the EHRC following the Supreme Court ruling in April 25 (which didn\u2019t even hear evidence from trans people or LGBTQI+ advocacy groups (and breached international human rights laws (applauded by Kier Starmer, a former human rights barrister who absolutely knows better))). So, this design was born (if I\u2019ve missed your pronouns, please let me know). I wanted it to be something that could be worn without showing profanities but it is also important to me to keep the message strong, so I\u2019ve leant into the autocorrect being too polite. This is for anyone who identifies as a human being whether they are trans or cis, all that is required is a functioning moral compass and a willingness to accept that the world is a complex place.<\/p>

This was my personal moto throughout most of my career as a business intelligence database architect \/ developer, but it feels very appropriate for the so called debate on trans identities, particularly for the non binary folks. I wanted to be able to put up a design in support of the trans community because of the ill conceived guidelines that have come out of the EHRC following the Supreme Court ruling in April 25 (which didn\u2019t even hear evidence from trans people or LGBTQI+ advocacy groups (and breached international human rights laws (applauded by Kier Starmer, a former human rights barrister who absolutely knows better))). So, this design was born (if I\u2019ve missed your pronouns, please let me know). I wanted it to be something that could be worn without showing profanities but it is also important to me to keep the message strong, so I\u2019ve leant into the autocorrect being too polite. This is for anyone who identifies as a human being whether they are trans or cis, all that is required is a functioning moral compass and a willingness to accept that the world is a complex place.<\/p>

Well, I certainly am! This is a design that falls out of my misreading (dyslexia) of some words. I have misread \u201cBirch\u201d in the past and smiled privately to myself, I wanted to share this private smile with the world. Obviously, not everyone is dyslexic, so to make the crossover clearer to neurotypical folk, I have artificially applied distressing to the design, particularly focused around the top of the \u201cR\u201d. It obviously works because every time I have worn it I get plenty of double takes and smirks. So, if this is you, or you know somebody who is, this is one you need to get into your bag!<\/p>

As a suicide survivor, this one means a lot to me. There are other tee shirts with a similar message though they often look like they were designed on a word processor (showing my age there!). They lack the impact and punch that this message needs. Mental health is nothing to be ashamed of, statistically, half of us will suffer with a serious mental health condition during our lifetimes (probably much higher because of underreporting). So wear this and just maybe you will save a life.<\/p>
